The Cocoa Beach Strip

A1A is the main artery. Everything worth doing in Cocoa Beach is on it or one block off it. Here's what you need to know before you get here.

πŸ—ΊοΈ The Layout

Cocoa Beach runs north to south along A1A β€” State Road A1A is the main street and it hugs the coast for the entire length of town. Everything is on this road or within one block of it. There is no confusing grid to navigate. You arrive on A1A and you stay on A1A.

The Ron Jon Surf Shop sits roughly in the middle of the strip and is the landmark everyone uses for orientation. North of Ron Jon the strip gets quieter and more residential. South of Ron Jon toward the pier is where most of the restaurants, bars, and activity concentrate.

πŸ„ The Pier Area

The Cocoa Beach Pier at the south end of the main strip is the social anchor. The pier itself extends over the water and has bars, restaurants, and live music. The parking lot adjacent to the pier fills up early on weekends. The beach access points around the pier are the most used and most photographed spots in town.

If you're only in town for a few hours, parking near the pier and walking north along A1A covers the best of what Cocoa Beach has to offer. You can hit the beach, eat, drink, shop Ron Jon, and get back to your car without moving it.

🍽️ Where to Eat

The restaurant scene on A1A skews toward fresh seafood, beach-casual fare, and places that have been there long enough to have regulars. Fish tacos, grouper sandwiches, shrimp baskets, and cold beer are the format. There are nicer spots off the main strip if you're looking for a more serious dinner, but the best meals in Cocoa Beach are usually the unpretentious ones with good fish.

🍹 Bars & Nightlife

Cocoa Beach nightlife is concentrated enough to be walkable and spread out enough that it never feels like one giant tourist trap. The bar scene ranges from casual beach dives with cold domestics to tiki bars with craft cocktails to spots with live music seven nights a week. Most of the action is between Ron Jon and the pier.

Thursday night is locals night β€” smaller crowds, better service, same quality. Friday and Saturday bring the visitors. Sunday afternoons after a launch are a scene unto themselves when the entire beach crowd converges on A1A.

🌊 The Beach Access Points

Beach access in Cocoa Beach is genuinely easy compared to much of Florida's Atlantic coast. There are numerous public access points along A1A with free or low-cost parking. The beach itself is wide, the water is warm from late spring through fall, and the waves are good enough for beginner surfing most of the year.

Sea turtle nesting season runs May through October. If you see orange tape or stakes on the beach at night, walk around them β€” active nests. It's a federal offense to disturb them and the locals take it seriously.

πŸ“ Find What's Near You Right Now

Standing on A1A and not sure what's nearby? The Near Me feature uses your location to show every listed business sorted by how close you are right now. No guessing. No Google Maps rabbit holes. Just what's closest to where you're standing.
