Jetty Park occupies the north jetty at the mouth of Port Canaveral. When cruise ships depart the port they pass within a few hundred feet of the jetty. Standing on the rocks you can look up at ships the size of city blocks as they navigate the channel. It is one of the most dramatic ship-watching experiences in Florida and it's free.
Jetty Park has a genuine Atlantic beach on the north side of the inlet. It's the closest beach to the cruise terminals — walking distance in good weather. The beach has lifeguards during season, restrooms, and a concession stand. The combination of beach, jetty, and cruise ship traffic makes it unlike any other beach on the Space Coast.
The pier extends over the inlet giving anglers access to the deep water channel that cruise ships use. The fishing here is productive because the channel concentrates baitfish and the predators that follow them. Watching a massive cruise ship pass below you while fishing is a specific Jetty Park experience that doesn't exist anywhere else.
Jetty Park faces east across the Atlantic making it one of the best sunrise photography locations on the Space Coast. The eastward exposure means full sun from the moment it rises. Add a cruise ship departing in the morning light and you have a photograph worth waking up for.
Small parking fee for the park. Campground on site for those wanting to stay overnight. The park is Port Authority property, well maintained, and gets busy on cruise departure days when families come to watch ships leave. Arrive early on those days for parking.
