When SpaceX or NASA has something scheduled, the entire Space Coast comes alive — hotels fill up, the strip gets busy, and the beach turns into a free viewing party that draws thousands of people. Launch weekends are among the best times to visit if you want to experience the full energy of this place.

Surf contests happen throughout the year — from amateur weekend events to larger competitions that draw competitors from across the state. Even when there's no contest on, the pier is one of the best spectator spots on the beach.
The Cocoa Beach Surf Company and Ron Jon Surf Shop both host events and often have advance notice of what's coming up on the water. The pier area at the south end of A1A is the traditional hub for competitive surfing on the Space Coast.

The Village hosts a regular calendar of art walks, farmers markets, outdoor concerts, and seasonal festivals in its brick-lined downtown. It's a 15-minute drive from the beach and worth combining into a full Space Coast day.
The Cocoa Village Playhouse hosts live theater year-round. The farmers market runs on weekends. Art Walk events bring local galleries and shops together for evening events with wine, live music, and open doors. If you're spending a weekend on the Space Coast and skipping Cocoa Village you're missing half the story.
Friday and Saturday nights on the Cocoa Beach strip are when the live music scene peaks. Multiple venues run simultaneous shows and it's genuinely walkable — park once and hit three or four spots in an evening on foot. The crowd is a mix of locals, tourists, and seasonal residents which makes for a genuinely good vibe compared to more tourist-only spots.
