It started with a wasted trip. Not a big deal — just a few miles up A1A. But annoying enough to stick.
We were in Cocoa Beach for the weekend. Simple plan: find somewhere with a live band, get a drink, enjoy the night. We couldn't find anything useful online. No site had current listings. Google Maps showed bars but nothing about what was happening inside them on a given Friday night.
We called five places. Half didn't answer. One told us they had a band that night. We drove over. The band had cancelled. Nobody had updated anything anywhere. The bartender shrugged. We found another place down the road and had a great night — but the whole experience was more work than it should have been.
That was the whole idea. One place. Current information. No calling around. No showing up to a cancelled show. Just the answer to the question everyone on this strip asks every Friday evening.
We built CocoaBeachToday because this stretch of Florida is genuinely special. Rocket launches you can watch from the beach for free. Great surf. A strip of bars and restaurants packed with people on vacation and happy to be there — and none of it was being surfaced anywhere reliably. So we built the guide we wished existed.
